Department of Computer Science

For the Bachelor of Computer Science program are 9 Computer Laboratory of Virtual Reality, Computer Network Lab, Multimedia Lab, Computer Lab Basic, Laboratory of Computer Programming, Computer Security Laboratory, Intelligent Systems Laboratory and Workshop Repairs. Each computer lab is equipped with the latest computer software and programming for teaching and learning. The computer labs are able to accommodate up to 40 students per lab at one time.

A new academic building has been constructed to house the faculty at the beginning of 2013. The new building is equipped with faculty offices, meeting rooms, classrooms, a resource center, lecture halls, post-graduate rooms, examination rooms, seminar rooms for 250 students, seminar rooms for up to 200 students and laboratories defense science and technology. A new building is being built to house PPLM and expected to be completed by mid-2013.

Department of Science Defense

The Faculty provides learning facilities such as Nautical Science Laboratory, Computer Laboratory, Ship PlatformSimulator and Boat House. The Nautical Science Laboratory is equipped with sixty (60) plotting tables, compasses, global positioning system, station viewing, sextant, nautical chart, publications and other navigational tools. The Faculty’s Ship Platform Simulator can fit in around twenty-five (25) students at one time. It is able to perform sailing simulation for different types of warships and commercial ships in Malaysian waters. Department of Computer Science has a computer lab which is divided into 4 : Laboratory Workshop, PC Lab, Learning and Research Laboratory (P & P) and the Research Laboratory. Laboratory workshop can accommodate up to 45 students, while the PC Lab and P & P Lab each can accommodate more than 50 students. Research laboratories have only 5 computers for final year students to do their researches.

PPLM also has a Computer-Based-Training (CBT) Navigation, Communication and maritime warfare that can train a total of 20 students at one time. CBT consisted of 4 cubicle is equipped with computer software for competency training in ship navigation and naval tactical communications training. Training undertaken to provide competence to the students prior to the Industrial Training ships agencies.

In addition the faculty has a Marine Centre is equipped with pier, boat house, kayak, boat engines and sea equipment . The students will go kayaking, and water sports skills to complement the co-curricular learning Bachelor of Maritime Technology. Marine Centre also provides facilities for seminars and courses organized by departments and centers in UPNM.
