After eight years of its inception, the Centre for Liberal and Language Studies (CLLS) has shown tremendous improvements in aspects such as quality courses offered, human resource development and asset procurement. The most significant thing is that the centre will be offering a new academic programme, Bachelor of Social Sciences (Languages and Cross Cultural Communication). Approval from the Malaysian Qualification Agency has been granted, and the next process is to obtain a written approval from the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.

Nonetheless, due to the interest of the university, one academic department, Department of Nationhood and Civilisation is transferred to another faculty effective 1 June 2012. On behalf of other staff, thank you very much for all the things accomplished together. Subsequently, the centre is now known as the Language Centre (LC).

To all students of UPNM, the courses offered by the centre will help to enhance the attitudes and attributes of the future officers of the Malaysian Armed Forces, as well as the future administrators of the government and private sectors. Keep up the good work to achieve excellence! To all students of the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Languages and Cross Cultural Communication) (ZB03), you are amongst the future intellectual leaders of characters. To all staff of the centre, your contributions in educating our future nation are highly appreciated. May this effort last for a long time.

This year, 2020, the LC will be producing its fourth batch of graduates for ZB03 programme. The LC aspires for all graduates to become contributing members in society, and thus help buid the nation.

Last but not least, I am wishing all of you the best in fulfilling your responsibilities and together we will achieve the aims of the centre, university and country.
