The mosque is named in honour of His Majesty in his capacity as the Head of the Islamic Religion, symbolising the profound respect of the UPNM community towards His Majesty’s steadfast leadership and principles. Its journey began with the site’s groundbreaking on 12 December 2020, followed by the commencement of construction in May 2022, and was fully completed in June 2024.
Constructed through a development fund contributed by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Azman bin Syed Ibrahim, Chairman of the UPNM Board of Directors, this mosque features a modern Islamic architectural concept. Built at a cost of approximately RM16 million, it is capable of accommodating up to 3,500 congregants at any given time.
The inauguration ceremony was followed by a prayer recitation led by Sahibus Samahah Tuan Ahmad Fauwaz bin Ali @ Fadzil, the Mufti of the Federal Territory, before His Majesty proceeded to perform the Maghrib prayer in congregation with those in attendance.
